Yes — nothing behind the wheel can start without one. You must be 16, a Massachusetts resident, and hold no license or permit in another state. Our free permit page walks you through it and has a practice test.

25 questions, 18 correct to pass, 25 minutes, and $30 per attempt. You can sit it online or at an RMV Service Center, in any of 37 languages. The permit is valid for two years.

Complete the online application first, then bring proof of identity, Massachusetts residency and your Social Security number. Check the RMV’s current ID checklist before you go — turning up short one document is the most common wasted trip.

Yes. Every student gets a referral code when they book. Anyone who uses it gets $25 off their first lesson, and you get $25 off your next one. There is no limit on how many people you refer.

Anywhere in Brockton, at no extra charge — home, school or work. We cover the wider South Shore too; lessons out of town are $65 an hour instead of $60, with no separate travel charge on top.

We ask for 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancelling inside 24 hours is charged as one lesson, and a no-show adds $15 on top of the $60 lesson fee.

Nothing is charged when you book. We confirm your lesson and send a Square payment link to settle beforehand, or you can pay your instructor on the day. Payment in full is due on road exam day. RMV licensing fees are charged by the Registry and are separate from what you pay us.

Yes — and since 2022 the RMV requires you to bring your own. $120 covers our vehicle and an instructor as your sponsor for an exam in Brockton, $150 for exam sites out of town. One thing to note: for road exams you meet us at the exam site rather than being picked up from home. If that is genuinely not possible, tell us when you book and we will do our best to accommodate you.

They can take the written test for a learner’s permit at 16, and can be issued a Junior Operator License between 16½ and 18.

30 hours of classroom, 12 hours behind the wheel and 6 hours of observation, plus a 2-hour class for a parent or guardian. On top of that, 40 hours of supervised driving logged at home — which drops to 30 if they complete a driver skills development program.

The classroom and behind-the-wheel components must both be completed within two years. Your teen also needs to hold the permit for 6 consecutive months with a clean record before the road test.

Not alone. Under 18 with a learner’s permit, they cannot drive between midnight and 5am unless a parent or legal guardian is in the car.

No. Massachusetts does not require driver’s education once you are 18. You need a learner’s permit, practice, and a passing road test.

It genuinely varies — some people need four hours, some twenty. Book one hour first and we will give you an honest answer at the end of it.

With one assessment hour. Usually what is missing is Massachusetts-specific road rules and the road test format, not driving ability.

As 15 modules of two hours each, with a required 15-minute break after every module. During school vacation weeks we run three modules a day, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 3:30pm — the whole 30 hours in one week. During the school year it is one module an evening, 6:00 to 8:00pm on weekdays, finishing in about three weeks.

Vacation weeks suit students with a deadline, and they fill first. Evenings suit anyone balancing school, sport or a job. The course, the content and the price are identical — only the spread changes.
